Remember all of those tacky infomercials for those tap lights- the product "you just couldn't live without"? They 'weren't available in stores', but they always ended up in flea-markets and stores anyhow? Somehow everything seems slightly "entertaining" when there's nothing else to watch at 3 in the morning. Speaking of which, there's nothing like popping in an old VHS tape and finding a gem of an infomercial from yesteryear. Anywho, if you're like me, and you somehow ended up with a taplight, for whatever reason, here is a chic project to bring out the artistic designer in all of us.

Think of the possible applications: You could spray a coat or two of shiny hot pink paint to the aluminum, or you could choose a nice pristine coating of white paint or antique green. If you're really feeling creative, you could prime the surface and apply a coat or two of chalk board spray paint to the aluminum surface and add a piece (secured and tied with a string and magnet) of chalk for a nice touch. Think of the possibilities, they are seemingly endless. I'd like to use hello kitty tap lights, paired with lots of hello kitty magnets maybe topped off with a strand of hello kitty lights hung over the top of the piece *ahhhhh heaven*.

Straws- an origami staple

And you thought straws were only used to blow bubbles in your chocolate milk! Silly crafter, straws are kawaii cool. Still stuck trying to turn a straw into a pretty, pretty star? Well then try another straw tutorial to give your origami ego a much needed boost. Personally, I wanna give "Chinese Modular Origami" a shot so I can can give this Hello Kitty origami model a top spot in my HK collection.

You, Yes you, can make your own Hello Kitty Cartoon

I can't wait to try this out. Thanks to the community at Make, there is now an easier and more innovative way to animate your own drawings using a white erase board. They've totally convinced me to give it a shot. Now, if I could just master drawing Hello Kitty and some of my other favorite Sanrio/ kawaii characters. Sooner or later I'll surely have an indie Hello Kitty cartoon in the bag.

Hello Kitty & Cash Cab

I'm searching the Internet for fabulous Hello Kitty (HK) links and visiting my Well, Hello Kitty! group in flickr on the side, all while watching Cash Cab too- God that's a great show- so I have about six windows open at the same time. Wow, I just tried to type the word six backwards too, maybe I'm trying to do too much at once!!! :-)
